The kindergarten children came over this afternoon and worked together with us creating posters to advertise our Bake Sale to raise money for the Red Cross of Japan. They worked so well together and we were very impressed with our well they did. The kindergarteners walked to all the classrooms to announce the project and hang the posters. Several of the first graders will be using their public speaking skills to make announcements over the loud speakers. Hopefully lots of children will get to enjoy baking with their parents. We will have the opportunity to use our math skills after the sale. We are excited and can't wait to share with you how we did!

Today was one of our three journal writing days of the week. It was a free writing day. Often a favorite as the children can really expand on whatever they are thinking about at the time. After reading some of the entries Mrs. C and I thought we'd like to share them on the blog. We asked the children if they wanted me to type their journals and post them for all to read. The next thing I knew, there was a line with well over a dozen children watching me type in their entries on the blog. A lovely sight to see as a teacher. . . - Mrs. G. If I had a dinosaur as a pet it would be a T-Rex. I would ride on it in a field with my friends. I would keep it in my backyard with my dog. We will have ice cream parties with my t-rex. We will stay up late watching scary movies on weekends. By M.D. I like Anthony because he's friendly. He's nice because he wants to do the talent show with me. He's always lending a hand. I like him. He is cute. by K.D I want to be a rock star. I would play a cool guitar and play all over the world. I would play at my favorite spot – Kid’s Choice Awards. I would win the blimp for best band. I would love to be in a band so bad! By A.P. If I had a dragon I would breathe fire on the town and fly and I would step on tall also small buildings. I would be the worst dragon in the world. By M. D. If I was a treasure hunter I would try to find King Tut. I would also try to find the ankh. I would especially like to find the amber room. Some people say it has a curse on it. It would be really, really dangerous. By C.G. Kasha and I are doing a poem in the talent show. The poem’s name is “Sister for Sale.” My sister and Kasha’s sister are going to be the sister’s for sale. My sister does not want to do it. But I still have some things to try to get her in it maybe. I hope she will come in it. We kind of need her for it. We did it together last year too. By A.Z. This morning many of the children noticed that the worms were out on the sidewalks. We discussed how the season has now changed to Spring. Our journal prompts today were: "If I were a worm . . ." and "I like Spring because. . . " Here are a few of our favorites: If I were a worm I would want to be a long one. I think I would probably stay in the ground a lot. I don’t want to be disturbed. If all this information goes good I’ll have a great life. In fishing season it is not great for worms. By B.D. I like Spring because the flowers are beautiful. They are violet, purple, white, yellow and blue. They smell as good as roses. They smell as good as soap. They smell as good as conditioner. Most of all, they smell as good as jelly. They will be beautiful and stay beautiful. There is a talent show with talent in the Spring too. By V.L. Here is the journals of the entire class. Many of them worked hard to write more than the required five sentences. This week the children wrote about the thing that they have been thinking about the most this week . . . leprechauns! They typed their thoughts on Microsoft Word during their tech time with Mrs. Morton. Leprechauns are sneaky and magic. Leprechauns are hard to catch. If I caught a leprechaun I would grant 3 wishes. – J.S. If I was a Leprechaun I would be sneaky. I would be sneaky enough not to be caught! Leprechauns are cool! – E.G. Leprechauns are very tiny probably so they can fit in tiny places. They are really, really smart. Do you think they are around in America? - B.D. If I got a Leprechaun! I would take a picture or two, three or four. But I would let it GO! GO! GO! I would keep it for 2314!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - I.J. That sneaky Leprechaun snatched our classroom camera and zipped around the traps taking pictures! Create your own video slideshow at animoto.com. Dear Parents,
